Sometimes we complain about prices not taking all inflation factors into account
In 1976 I paid $0.60! For a gallon of gas and that was high. Today that would be $3.21 and a bunch of taxes have been added!
People forget that people made no money in the 50s, 60s and 70s. But inflation sucks when it hits hard and fast
I remember in 1971 my parents looking at two different houses. A 30 year old one that was $12k and a four year old one thst was twice as nice for $14.5k. The couldn’t afford YM the $14.5k house, but easily spent every dollar the y had fixing massive problems with the old house. Should have done something different.

I don’t think that was very much for a house in 1971. My parents paid $30,000 for their house in 1962
