Not 1 player said they did not bring it up and common sense would tell you they
did. They asked for the Zoom call specifically to pitch why Maile was the best candidate. And what they pitched sounded a lot like what Maile pitched to her in writing.
She was blindsided. She thought they wanted to talk about the fired coach and concerns they had about the University and athletic department.
You could argue that she should have anticipated the sales pitch and had canned answers.
She had concerns that Maile was not inclusive enough in his recruiting philosophy. Based in what he wrote - she was right about that.
Even so, the primary issue was that he is not close to being ready to be a head coach.

Boise State reminded him what he is. A solid position coach.
