Medical costs are out of control.
My wife had a baby and we're starting to get the medical bills back. This was a full term healthy delivery, non c-section. Typical 48 hour hospital stay, etc.
Billed over $4k for OBGYN visits (all preterm care and delivery).
Billed $500 for hospital "pre admittance"
Billed $2000 for an epidural
Billed $10,100 for the hospital stay
In all $16,600 plus some incidental costs (probably $400) for testing during pregnancy.
We haven't gotten any bills for the medical costs for the baby yet...

I definitely trust midwives over doctors. Doctors are just itching to operate. It's like they teach it during residency.
