I think we’ve changed who we were to meet the demands as a husband and father and now we’re realizing we still need that guy we left behind
People say therapists and mental health professionals help a lot and I really hope that’s real and am glad they seemed to help some but for me they all have frankly been extremely poor helps.
For me the advice others have given here is far better.
Find a goal or something you’re passionate about be it physical fitness, a sport, DIY whatever… something that is fulfilling… the trick is keeping an open mind and allowing yourself to try things because if you are like me nothing seems appealing. Allow yourself to try and enjoy it, allow yourself to feel good.
Decide you’re going to pull out of this phase and get as much help around you as you can be they family, friends, therapists, a dog, whatever… either way you are in charge… you decide how you feel.
I don’t like the saying “faking it until you make it”, decide what you want and make it real. Notning fake about that. Mind over matter, the undefeated, the conquerer, it’s your life make it what you want by taking action and controlling your thoughts.
You are doing well
You make a massive difference
You have what it takes to be what you want
You are pleased with what you’ve done and the efforts you’ve made
You are headed in the right direction
You have moxie
You are glad to be you
Find a mantra and hold to it.
