My daughter plays 7th grade rec soccer and the coach plays her very little.
He plays plays 4 girls very little and the others most of the games unless they ask out for a break. She is usually only in 1/4 of the game. She never starts. And she is always upset at the end of the games that she plays so little. She has asked me to quit and I have said no, but I am considering it. She hasn't missed many practices (they only practice once a week). I have thought about asking the coach if he can be more equal in playing time and maybe rotate who starts, since it is just rec league, but I haven't said anything. She is not really a bad player either, pretty average with most of the girls on the team except for the 2-3 best players.

I obviously don't know all the details of this situation to say what is the proper response to this parent, but I am currently coaching my sons soccer and flag football teams, and I coach my daughters basketball, so I definitely do my share of volunteer coaching. I think one of the primary jobs of a coach is to build confidence in the kids and help them enjoy sport. Trying to create close equal playing time for all the kids is a big part of that imo.
