Look, the upcoming season is never as simple as picking up where you left off
the season prior. Lots of things happen in the offseason to change the outlook of a team. Additions, subtractions, injuries heal, other suffer injuries, etc. and it’s not uncommon for a team that wasn’t good the year before, returns a lot of similar pieces, adds some good pieces at significant spots, and they shoot up the ladder and are really good even though they weren’t good the season before or the last game of the season. I get this and it’s likely why Utah can have optimism about the upcoming season.

BUT, it’s the attitude and mindset that they were really good the last few years and are getting even better is what is comical and comes off as unearned arrogance. They may very well be good this year, but not because they were good the last few years and is just inherently a better program than the rest of the Big12. But, what if, as this guy said, this is the year they are setup to be a strong team but they end up getting 2nd 3rd or worse in the conference? How will that bode for their fans’ future outlook?
