Saw on my FarOut app where someone tried to cross downstream from the bridge a couple days ago.
Based on their very bad experience,(roughed up and lost some gear), they're warning everyone else not to try it.

How do you handle the loneliness? A few years ago I went hunting and was alone

Do you bring books or just read on your phone? I know you brought audiobooks

Just audio books. Listening to The Count of Monte Cristo right now.

What’s an average day of elevation change?

Just guessing, but over 20 miles it feels like I climb about 4,000' and descend about 4,000.

Almost to the Sierra. Still a decent amount of snow. I'm nervous for July 1st, can't imagine doing it in May/June.

Good luck. You'll be fine by then. It is melting fast. I was up in Mammoth last

The South Fork of the San Joaquin bridge was destroyed last Spring. That is where I am super nervous.

This is one that I still need to

Which detour are you thinking Mozey? Paiute and Bishop pass?
TheLoneCougar

Exactly. PCTA is recommending a detour to the east using Bishop and Piute Passes. I have not looked at the details yet

Wow, they tried to ford it this early in the season?! I've got FarOut for the JMT which I think is the same as you are

I would probably try and go Alpine Col and down Paiute canyon
