Maybe I’m missing someone, but I think there are 3 coaches in the history of P5 that could make the list of coaches BYU would even consider that have P5(4) head coaching experience. You already rejected Bronco and he isn’t coming back, regardless. Kyle isn’t coming. Already rejected BYU and likely close to retiring. I’ll assume you aren’t putting Gary Anderson on your list. Those would be the entire list of P5(4) head coaches BYU and the Board of Trustees would consider. I’m not even sure about Gary. Even expanding to FBS head coaching experience I think you only add Ken N. who also already told BYU no. Maybe he would give a different answer now that Navy fired him, but few would be excited by his triple option offense. Going back a few years you could add the retired Norm Chow, who did not succeed in his time as a head coach and did not leave BYU happy. Who am I missing that has FBS head coaching experience? If you are talking about coaches with no FBS head coaching experience, you are talking high risk that the program goes backwards.

I was happy either way with Bronco staying or going. The program was good, but seemed to be regressing. He was pretty clear he was unenthused.
