After doing some research out of curiosity's sake, it looks like the owner is actually a BYU grad which makes me want to give him the benefit of the doubt on this stuff.
Looks like their business model is purchasing old "fixer-upper" hotels and renovating them to make them "nice" again. This property used to be a Holiday Inn, then sold to Clarion. During that period it fell into major disrepair.
This new company bought it a year or two ago. I'll admit they have put some work into renovations and some parts of the hotel are pretty nice now. But other parts still definitely need some work.
That and you can tell that there are things that need to be improved with running the hotel? (Such as not running out of bath towels, making sure the internet is consistent enough for the Roku TVs. They advertise to actually work, etc)
Hopefully they get it turned around, but I won't ever be staying there again.
