I keep hearing this mantra of how much the eye test matters.
You know when it didn’t matter? In 2020 when BYU was undefeated and absolutely crushing their soft schedule. Anybody remember their initial ranking? #14, with three 2 loss teams in front of them.
The committee is so garbage it is a joke. The reason BYU is #9 right now instead of #6 or #7 has nothing to do with the ‘eye test’.
And for those who say don’t worry about it, just win and it will take care of itself. That’s a naive attitude to have in my opinion. The likelihood is BYU drops one. And if BYU did that they will definitely be out if they lose in the Championship game. But if they were 2-3 spots higher right now and lost 1 game + the title game. There chances of getting an at large are decent. Especially if SMU is the ACC runner up.
