Fished for bass almost exclusively.
I've noticed some similarities between fly fishing for trout and bass fishing.
Never giving away a good spot
Lying about what you're using to catch fish
If you have a good day you tell other anglers its slow. And if it's slow you tell them you killed it.
Spend hundreds of dollars on gear, only to fall back on the same set up that you use over and over...
I'm not looking for anyone to give away honey holes, but maybe just some advice on how to get started and what to look for. How to spot holes on a river, do you aim right after some rapids or up above and let your fly float through rapids to calmer water...
Also maybe looking for a guide service with patience to walk someone through learning HOW to fly fish haha
Have watched A River Runs Through It about 50 times but I'm used to slinging lures and ripping them back at a hectic pace to cover as much water as possible...
I grew up in the PNW and can use a spinning rod with worms, rooster tails, etc. But am drawn to the accuracy and persistence of fly fishing.
Sorry for the long post..
