No, going 89 is faster. It is faster on Google Maps and faster in real life.

I have probably driven to Provo 100 times. The Vegas routes stinks very bad, and is about 1/2 hour slower.

89 route is 30 minutes to an hour faster depending on a couple of factors but it is still the fastest route.
