You remind me of BCS fans who are constantly

moving the target whenever BYU (or any other non-BCS school hits the last one they put up).

"That same group still thinks I'm related to KWhit, which I am not and have stated and had those who ARE related to me or DO know me state as well, this group is much like YEWT fans who really aren't Yewt fans, they just hate BYU because..."

Given your extensive posting history of overlooking KWhit's weaknesses, extolling his virtues and doing the opposite with respect to Bronco, surely you can understand why, if you are not related to KWhit, people would think you must be.

"There have been MANY coaching blunders and mistakes that are really simplistic in nature and at the D1 level UNACCEPTABLE!"

If you paid close attention, you could say that about literally every staff in America.

"I, up until last year, stated that I think BM is an average coach , "WITH ROOM TO GROW AS A YOUNG AND INEXPERIENCED COACH"."

Wow. I suppose you thought Ronald Reagan had room to grow as a young and inexperienced president after five years in office. IMO, the comparison is valid because each man was far from perfect in their respective roles, yet each had/has done a pretty doggone remarkable job.

"After this season, BM can no longer still carry the "inexperienced" flag, much like Crowton who waived it constantly in regards to his players.
At some point, you are no longer "INEXPERIENCED". For me THAT point is this season."

Simply because Crowton used "young and inexperienced" every year, doesn't mean BYU's team THIS year can't be young and inexperienced. I realize you are talking about the coaching. But IMO it has to do with rebuilding. EVERY team rebuilds sometimes.

"Meaning he has this season."

So the previous 5 years mean nothing? Next year, I presume will also be irrelevant after it is over. This year is it.

"With that in mind I have to temper my judgment.

THIS is the first time he has faced a true QB change/development situation. He inherited TWO NFL QB's prior."

Here we go again. Because Max Hall turned out to be an NFL QB, the QB change and development in 2007 is worthless? Uh, did anyone know we had an NFL player in Hall prior to 2007? Did anyone know it after 3 games? We were all pretty happy, but I don't think anyone was calling him a shoe in for the NFL back then. Your logic slips mightily here. And that's saying something.

"Last year I asked where were his marquee wins that demonstrated that he is an above average coach?

To me taht would mean beating a team on the road handily that he should
Beating a team with the same or greater talent than BYU, when an under dog or a "pick'em"."

You'll just shift the definition of "marquee win" so that it doesn't include any that we have had. TCU in '06 doesn't count? OU last year doesn't either?

<snip>

"MANY on CB state 10-2 as the reason BM is a GREAT coach.
I say whoopdy FREAKING DO!"

Do you judge your own achievement by the same exacting standards? If so, I suspect you need to seek professional help.

"IMO ANY average coach with BM's schedule and BYU's talent would have roughly the same record."

Again, go back to 2005. Who would have predicted four straight 10 win seasons in a row for 2006-2009? Answer: Absolutely no one.

"Seriously who couldn't beat UNM, WYO, Northern ILLINOIS, Utah State, etc, with the teams that have been here?
That's right, BAD coaches couldn't, he isn't a BAD coach."

Good coaches sometimes preside over losses to teams that are inferior to their own. The examples of that under Coach Mendenhall have been extremely rare.

"BUT we beat TCU and UTAH?

UTAH a rival... lots of crazy stuff happens."

You mean crazy stuff like BYU outplaying Utah for most of some games and then falling behind so that a miracle finish is required?

"ANY objective person would say that UTAH has outplayed BYU in BM's tenure. Even in a few of BYU's wins. We needed miracles to win those games, it was NOT great coaching that won IMO."

Utah needed miracles to get ahead at the end in a couple of those games. We just happened to pull off the last miracle.

"Getting BLOWN OUT by ANYONE with BYU's talent is ridiculous IMO. We have never been in a game that the mismatch in talent and inexperienced prior to kick off met an expectation that equaled the final score of a BLOWOUT. IMO that reflects coaching."

Show me a coach who coaches long enough that doesn't get blown out from time to time.

"So up unitl the end of last year , my feelings were that BM is average.

THEN BYU beat AFA and Oregon STATE and I , HERE, on CB, stated that I believe that THOSE wins were the kinds of wins that differentiated a GOOD coach from a GREAT coach and proclaimed him to be the latter."

I'd like to see those posts.

"THEN I found out that BM who had been much criticized by MANY for his BOWL prep, copied UTAH's bowl prep."

What does this have to do with anything? All coaches learn from others. They all pay attention to what is working. If you're going to say a great coach only innovates and never learns from others, your list of great coaches will be pretty short to non-existent.

<snip>

"SO then I watch us beat a bad Washington team again. Again BARELY winning. This time we should have won by 4 TD's."

We have almost no idea whether Washington is a bad or a good team at this point.

Say "hello" to KWhit for me.</snip></snip>
