The politically incorrect truth is that we have trouble recruiting great black athletes on defense. Like Lavell once said, one can disguise a lack of speed on offense, but not on defense. Yes, our defense is faster this year, but it still isn't up to par with SEC defenses. When is the last time BYU had a black defensive lineman? I still recall the BCS championship game from 3 years ago. Florida got an amazing pass rush from their front four. If we had a big, strong, AND fast front four like that, the defense would change dramatically.
