I think BYU will (almost?) always accept NIT invitations. Coaches and players

want to play, to compete, to practice, to improve… in the current environment the only time you are allowed to do that after the conf. tourney ends is to be in a tournament.

There may be unusual circumstances that cause BYU not to want and/ or not be able to play in a tournament, but most years they play in the best tournament available to them.
