What I see is more along the lines of this:

38 point win against Baylor (Baylor was young, but impressive still)
13 point win against San Diego St (around the same time Houston lost to them)
16 point win against Indiana
1 point loss to Kentucky (when Kentucky was fully healthy and rolling)
6 point loss to UCONN (this is less convincing)
3 point loss to UCLA in Los Angeles

Then a two game stint that killed their SOR. Losses to Oregon St and Santa Clara. The rest of the year they won all of the games they should and were 1-2 vs St Marys.

When comparing that to a VCU team that played and beat no one I don't think it is quite the same...but if Gonzaga wants better seeding they really need to get out of the WCC.
