July 08, 2020: “I’m extremely confident that level five or essentially complete autonomy will happen, and I think, will happen very quickly, I think at Tesla, I feel like we are very close to level five autonomy. I think—I remain confident that we will have the basic functionality for level five autonomy complete this year, There are no fundamental challenges remaining. There are many small problems. And then there's the challenge of solving all those small problems and putting the whole system together.”

December 5th 2020: "I'm extremely confident that Tesla will have level five next year, extremely confident, 100%"
Needless to say, I kept assuming there was an employee only level software package that had already solved Level-5 FSD with a couple bugs left in 2020. . . But in 2021 I got my safety score up to 97. . . I got the FSD package . . . and I was
#1) impressed, it did a lot of things really well that I enjoyed.
#2) shocked at how bad it was at basic things. It popped 2 tires because FSD hit a pothole as it tried to "center the car in the lane" but what actually happened is the paint on the shoulder wore thin on the road, so the software included the shoulder in the lane calculation an drove straight into a pothole.
So I still have FSD, I still use it on my drive to work/church, it feels futuristic in a lot of ways. . . but it honestly seems like it would crash about once a week (Every 400 miles) if I was not monitoring it.
But the real proof will come out when Tesla starts it's robotaxi service (which was stated to start June 2025, but I will wait to see how it works)
