No clue…don’t really think the increased travel is that big of a deal
I’d even move to a division based schedule(4 divisions of 8 when they move to 32 teams). Play your division 4 times each(28 games) and play everyone else twice(48 games). That’s 76 games. Then five division winners the 1-4 seeds and seed everyone else by record.
Schedule isn’t balanced, but you balance seeds at least.
