Yes some of the best and brightest at BYU are pre-med, are you seriously arguing
otherwise? Tons of smart LDS kids want to be high-earning medical professionals, the competition is real. My BIL is one of the smartest kids to ever graduate from BYU. He was valedictorian of the Computing, Math and Physical Sciences School with a Physics and Neuroscience degree and went to medical school at Harvard. Yes some of the smartest kids at BYU are pre-med.

I don't understand. What is BYU-I doing wrong? Not everyone is getting into Harvard, it doesn't mean other schools
