Hard Disagree. Kentucky and Duke have had a lot of success.
These are the two prototypical OAD schools.

Kentucky began with this model during the 2009-10 season, while Duke began in the 2014-15 season.

Kentucky 2010-2024: 7 Regional Finals, 4 Final Fours, 1 NCAA Title
Duke 2015-2024: 5 Regional Finals, 2 Final Fours, 1 NCAA Title

If you take out the COVID year, you're looking at 23 seasons, 12 Regional Finals, 6 Finals Fours, and 2 National Titles. No coach on planet earth would pass on those odds.

The point most people overlook is there have really only been 2 OAD factories - Kentucky and Duke. You often see all Final Four teams filled with upperclassmen and we assume that is the correct model to follow. There are 50+ quality programs in college basketball. Naturally, I'd expect the combined effort of all the other schools to outweigh Duke/Kentucky because the odds are statistically in their favor by a WIDE margin.

Come on! Who else is making the Regional Finals 12/23 times? People look at UConn as a staple for success. But, in 2023 they reached the 2nd weekend for the first time in 9 years! Villanova won 2 national titles in 2016 and 2018. They also failed to reach the second weekend every other season that decade. Neither of those teams were consistent. If you want to win at the highest level, your best odds are simply taking the best talent.
