In the college game you not only have more inconsistent reffing, but you have much more physical defenses in college that are allowed to be more physically aggressive, clog the paint, etc.
In the modern NBA, offense is what is emphasized and the current rules promote spacing for offense to be showcased. It's why a guy like Demin could be such a good fit for the NBA but is currently struggling at the college level. I expect we see something similar with Dybantsa next year.
In the 80's and 90's, the NBA was a lot more physical and much more similar to how physical college games can be. Unfortunately, that's not the case anymore.
