I do have a Apple Wallet that is on back for when I am out and about. In 3+ years I haven't cracked my screen yet (knock on wood). I also am very careful of how I put the phone down (never screen side down) and that it goes in pocket with nothing else (to avoid scratches).

I have dropped it for sure and it has some small signs of drops on some of the corners. But overall it has been great. Screen protectors are far more likely to break than the iPhone screen, so just because a screen protector broke doesn't mean the iPhone would have if it was unprotected.
