The remote has buttons for the fan and a separate one for the lights. No chains hanging to control any of it.

You can get a new remote kit for ~$15.. but if you are going to take your fan apart/down to do that..

Yea.. At some point its easier to just buy a new fan (if you already have one, install should be simple)
