the kick is just short and lands in the field of play, it is a live ball. Remember the debacle in Dallas when the Cowboys DT ran downfield to cover a partially blocked kick by the Dolphins? It was a live ball, he touched it but failed to recover it, and the Dolphins recovered in the endzone, giving them a game winning touchdown. Same happened when Auburn (I think) returned a field goal attempt by Alabama that was a yard or two short. The Auburn guy took it out of the endzone and ran it back for a touchdown.
Same thing here. Kick was partially blocked and landed in the field of play, so live ball. I don't know if the kick should still be "good" because the ball bounced over the bar. Not that familiar with the college rules, but it was definitely a live ball. And if the rules are true, then ASU should have been awarded 3pts. They should also have gotten a targeting call on the last drive of the 4th which would have been key in them getting into field goal range for a potential game winning kick. Two really bad misses by the refs.
