The author is a law professor at UT and specializes in the first amendment. He starts the book by discussing how he has studied the first amendment his entire career, read tons of books, written articles and treatises on it, and yet he acknowledges there is still more written about the first amendment than he could ever read. Despite all he has done…he hasn’t scratched the surface of all the first amendment commentary …so habit one for him is regardless of how smart you think you are about a topic…you likely still don’t know very much. Or at the very least…you still have things to learn.
