I'd love to see the stats. My guess is that it has more to do with BYU playing a stronger schedule so our numbers are
lower than they were before.
I don't think that Georgia vs Alabama type games were seeing 500 yard passers before.
BYU had 9 P4 wins this year - we played 11 P4 games. We're playing teams that are much more athletic and much better coached. We should expect our total yard stats to be lower.
