Given that 5 auto bids go to conf champs (regardless of ranking), wouldn’t that make them all “ahead” of the other 7?
An at-large team has to be in the top 12 to be invited whereas a conference champ can be outside and still gets an auto bid. A conference winner takes precedence over a higher ranked non-conference winner.
