Universal healthcare denies all sorts of coverage. I have a family member in New Zealand who was denied coronary stents because he was over 65 and they put an age limit on that in New Zealand. Can you imagine the outcry in the US if we decided that after 65 you can just die of a heart attack?(He actually died of congestive heart failure a couple months after but the heart failure was due to the heart attack that could have been easily corrected with stents)
There are a shocking number of Canadiens that carry US health insurance or will pay cash to get things done here in AZ because the wait is too long or the services aren’t offered or denied in Canada.
Restriction of service is the key to cost control in health care. The US restricts services less than any other country so cost goes way up. Sometimes those restrictions are justified and there are some treatments that aren’t restricted that really should be.
