Insurance companies are different now. They are now 'prepaid' healthcare.
Insurance used to cover major injuries and sicknesses. The government has forced them to cover almost everything. This has driven up costs for not just insurance, but healthcare in general.
It would be like car insurance being forced to pay for oil changes, maintenance, scratches and accidents.
