you do need to get reservations/tickets to the Ghibli museum several months in
advance. If you wait until you are 2 months out or less, they will be all booked up. Same thing if you want to go to any of the popular themed cafes in Tokyo, like the Pokemon Cafe or Kirby Cafe. Same rule applies if you want to do any of the VIP tour experiences at Universal Studios or Tokyo Disney.
