We decided to try to make Christmas more about the Savior this year. Did the 12 days of Christmas with something on the Savior each night for the past 12 nights. Did more service for others including hygiene kits for those in need around the world. Along with that, decided to downsize the stuff, toys, material side of Christmas. There are fewer presents under the tree, and stockings are not stuffed quite as much. Also, Santa didn't leave a big gift for each child, just one smaller size gift for the family as a whole, nothing earth shattering at all. Not a lot of "fun" things to play with necessarily.

Honestly, I can imagine my kids walking in on Christmas morning and stopping and saying "huh?" and kinda being shocked and disappointed. When all is opened, they will likely feel a bit of a letdown.

It breaks my heart to sit here thinking about that. I look up at their pictures in the living room and I think of them sleeping, dreaming of big things on Christmas morning, and hope they aren't too disappointed. I want to give them the world but don't want them to think Christmas has to be about getting lots of big and fun things.

Anyone else struggle with this?
