"half as long" is an way over stated
EVs don't need oil changes, their brakes last longer due to regenerative braking, Their transmissions don't require expensive maintenance. A Tesla Model 3 is estimated to need approx $.02/ mile in maintenance. Even a cheap toyota corolla is estimated to need +/- $0.06/mile in maintenance. Also the energy cost per mile is way less for EVs.

Also the charging issues are overblown, most people in a single family home can charge at home while they sleep. More and more hotels and apartment complexes are installing chargers. And if Tesla delivers on their vision for an autonomous future there is a decent chance many people in the future opt to not even own a car, as the cost for a robo taxi will be so cheap it will be cheaper to take robotaxis everywhere than it will be to own your own car.

EVs are the future, and they will take over the market even with no further government subsidies. Feel free to bookmark this and check back with me in 5-10 years.
