There are real, proven methods that would dramatically reduce fatalities now

Rather than waiting on some unnoticed technology tay may-or-may-not ever come to fruition, we could implement real strategies that would save tens of thousands of lives every year.

But no, or cities and lives are built around cars and we can't change that, apparently.
