So why would the Alamo Bowl opt for a Big-12 team over a B1G team?

Or were they allowed to choose which conference they wanted after the regular season was completed?

Does each conference team sign a separate long term agreement with each bowl affiliated with a conference?

It seems odd that Colorado and BYU aren't being given a choice. In past years, teams received bowl invitations, not shut up and show up demands.
