(b) Someone who is highly intrinsically motivated, but is also responsible enough to make sure that they negotiate the most money they can. You can take the money seriously and insist on getting the best deal without being "money first", right? I think most high-performing people are intrinsically motivated day-to-day, but then become money-focused when they have to make a decision about their next career steps. Probably this is why it is useful to have an agent who can fight hard for an athlete to get the right deal while the athlete themselves stays connected to their intrinsic motivation network.
