A forward handoff is not the same thing as a forward pass. You can have as many handoffs on a play as you want, regardless of whether the handoff is towards or away from the line of scrimmage. There are inside “handoffs” that are actually forward passes because the QB actually tosses the ball. If the QB still has a hand on the ball when he hands it off, it is not a pass.
Watch LJ on the play. He takes the handoff then puts the ball in his right hand preparing for an inside handoff. And Marion is still on the inside at that point. Marion adjusts and runs right into LJ.
