been, even prior to the CFP, and BCS, and every other system over the last 40-50 years. The CFP committee isn't using mental gymnastics - they are just plain dishonest, and blatantly so, and they have never cared if it's painfully obvious to the rest of us. Their goal has never been integrity, fairness or equity, nor is it about respect or bias. MONEY RULES! And the system wants the teams in that make it the most money.
So, even if the CFP folks (and all prior "committees") know full well that people will see their blatant dishoesty, they simply don't care. They're not concerned about looking noble, fair, unbiased, or respectful. They have and will continue to choose "MONEY" for themselves and their cabal over any desire to look noble or fair. They're just like politicians. They don't care if everyone sees right through them, so long as they get what they want in the form of money and power.
Sadly, selfishness and egomania has overtaken character and the desire to do what's right in far too many areas of our society. It's happening everywhere, of course, but just more poignantly in the US than some other countries (not many, but some European and Southwest Pacific Countries) where doing what's right at least has still garners some respect, and has some meaning.
