In this context, it could also be a sign that you are a little too self assured of your own opinions, but I’m sure that’s not it.
Bosco was certainly an amazingly successful QB. Definitely deserves his spot in the conversation among the very best at BYU. I based my assessment on a few things – – namely that Wilson is in the College Hall of Fame and Bosco is not. Wilson was a dual threat and recognized as the best quarterback in the country. Bosco never was. In fact, in ‘85 Bosco was second team all-WAC behind Air Force’s Bart Weiss. Bosco‘s unbeaten ‘84 championship season is a singular accomplishment at BYU. Wilson was a game ending, missed chip shot field goal away from delivering an undefeated record himself in 1979 before that.
I do give some credence to the fact that Wilson was an NFL 1st round draft pick and multi years starter. Why shouldn’t I? But based on college alone, there’s a discussion to be had. Were it so obvious in Bosco‘s favor as you indicate, would he not be in the Collegiate Hall of Fame beside Wilson?
Bosco’s passing statistics were eye popping and fun to watch unfold, which I did in every game he played (except Hawaii. Fell asleep). He was great. But you undervalue Wilson.
