I learned when I was studying for my French DL that on the third DUI, you lost

your DL forever, no exceptions.

They impounded your car for a week or so after the first one and you had to pay a stiff fee to get it out.

I think you lost your DL for 6 months after the second one.

This was almost 30 years ago, so perhaps things have changed.
