The chewing clock strategy it to protect a defense, not the offense which has
been entrusted to chew the clock.
And it was a great strategy that kept our defense fresh the entire game. The fault was not scoring on two trips inside the 10 yard line and having to settle for a FG after a 10.5 minute drive. I don't know that I've ever seen a team have to settle for a FG after keeping a defense on the field for that long.
That's 18 pts that should have been on the board for a comfortable 31-17 victory.
