I’m not sure how big a deal it is that BYU loses a TE recruit who is a receiving threat if Roderick isn’t going to run an offense that throws to the TE all that much. If TEs are mostly going to be blockers - let’s get great blockers.

Personally, I’m a huge fan of BYU’s TEs going back to Clay Brown. I love BYU having a TE that gets used to make big plays like Hudson, Mills, Smith, OG Rex, Lewis, Mili, Jolley, Harline, and Pitta, etc.

But if the current offense isn’t going to use them all that much, from a practical standpoint it doesn’t seem like that big of a loss.

Sure - I’d prefer they do get used as receivers. But they simply don’t. And it’s really hard to argue otherwise. And if a TE recruit expressed that concern to ARod, I’m not sure there’s much evidence for him to point to that they are wrong.
