The thing about Utah's entry that created problems was that Utah didn't want to go to the Big12 - and made that clear. Fans made it clear loudly and proudly on social media that they viewed the Big12 as inferior and at worst, if they were forced to slum in the Big12, it would be temporary until they ended up ultimately in the Big10. Of course, this was influenced by KW's comments that conference realignment wasn't over and that conference affiliation would change again in the future - which many Ute fans interpreted as the U heading for the Big10 sooner rather than later.

Play on the field hasn't influenced how other Big12 fanbases feel about Utah as much as the bravado and arrogance that fans exhibited on their way in - with their fingers firmly placed over their noses to avoid the stink of the truck stop conference.
