I've been to traffic court maybe 3 times. All 3 times they cut the fine in half
Or something close to that.
I'd go on and apologize, just say he got caught up in the flow of traffic, felt safe, roads were dry and good visibility(if true) and that he'll keep a better eye on his speed going forward.
Unless you get a jerk of a judge, my guess is they cut the fine and don't take his license.
