Competitive sports are primarily transactional and it starts at a young age.
It’s tough for the participants to buy into all the rah-rah feel good stuff when they’ve spent the last decade bouncing around to different teams, practicing daily, getting cut, getting benched, getting criticized, traveling all over, dealing with politics, working through injuries, etc. It’s a grind.
