Is that they haven't had those four things in enough abundance to make up for their lack of athleticism against teams who are athletic and are pretty equal to our players in those four areas.
It's not like our players have been elite in those four areas that you say have less to do with athleticism and more with brains. As evidenced by our tournament history and overall record against more athletic teams.
It's not good when you have little margin for error in those four areas due to also lacking athleticism. Most teams have been equal with us in the brains, skill, knowledge, departments and superior to us in the athleticism department. Most good teams anyway.
Like when we tried to go up against North Carolina in the Maui Invitational with Austin Angie, Nashif, Jensen, Meads, etc. While they had williams, mccants, may, etc. They had the brains, skill, etc, not us. AND they had the athleticism.
Same with some of those St Mary's teams we lost to. They had more coordination, wherewithal, competitiveness, brains, skill, knowledge, etc, than us. And yet even they are always out by the second round. Not athletic enough. One sweet 16 appearance in 2010 for them.
Thankfully, this year, I think we have at least as much ability in at least some of those four areas as we normally do (hopefully more), AND we have more athleticism.
