CrimWalCoug All-American in practice
I’m really encouraged by how the BYU Women’s Cross-Country team did yesterday.
Below are actual finishes vs. my projections:

1. Lexy Halladay - 1st vs. 4th
She won by six seconds and looked good doing it. I think she should finish top 10 at NCAAs and could even be in the mix to win an individual national championship if she peaks at the right time and has a good race.

2. Jenna Hutchins - 4th vs. 6th
She finished 17 seconds behind Lexy - this is a bigger gap than I would want to see between our #1 and #2 runners. Part of that is a testament to the race Lexy had. Jenna is healthy and stacks on another really good race to her recent history.

3. Carmen Alder - 10th vs. 16th
Last season Carmen won the second meet of the cross-country season, but that seemed to be her peak. 10th is really good for her and the team - hope to see her maintain this level through the rest of the season.

4. Taylor Rohatinsky - 25th vs. 24th
I’m encouraged by this finish from Taylor. She is coming off injury and trying to find her fitness. If she continues to progress and becomes our #5, we are in decent shape to podium at NCAAs.

5. Riley Chamberlain - 29th vs. 9th
The most disappointing race from our team. However, I suspect she may be coming off of illness. Two weeks ago at the Autumn Classic she ran with Lexy and Jenna. Then we see a training video of the team, and Riley is nowhere to be seen (maybe sick?). And in this race she is the only BYU runner who got passed from 3k to 5k, which implies she faded a bit. In order for this team to podium we need her to be our #3 runner and be closer to our #2 runner than our #4 runner.

6. Taylor Lovell - 30th vs. 14th
She’s made amazing progress from last cross-country season and should definitely be in our top seven. Will she score for us? Possibly. I can see her battling Taylor Rohatinsky for that five spot. Need her to progress throughout the season though.

7. Anastaysia Davis - 33rd vs. 29th
Finished about where I projected. If Carlee Hansen doesn’t come back this season, Anastaysia will be battling Destiny Everett all season for the #7 spot.

8. Destiny Everett - 36th vs. 31st
See Anastaysia above.

9. Nelah Roberts - 65th vs. 21st
After finishing as BYU’s #4 runner at the Autumn Classic many were pleasantly surprised. She may be a year off from being in BYU’s top seven at Nationals, but she is still showing potential.
