my only touchpoint with the Church. Many Utah fans would ask why I wouldn't leave the Cougars and switch to the Utes. For me it boiled down to two things: first, I had a lot of great memories as a BYU fan in LES and the Marriott; and second, it was because BYU stood for something. Although the Word of Wisdom wasn't high on my priorities during that time, common decency and improvement of the human condition were. I liked that BYU represented those aspirations, although in a slightly different way than I would have gone about them.
