That, to me, was the straw that broke the camel’s back. That wasn’t just fans being dumb or players saying something stupid. That was the institution trying to sabotage us. That was a person—THE PRESIDENT OF THE UNIVERSITY, no less—working in an official capacity trying to do harm to our program.
And it’s not like BYU and Utah were in any competition with each other at the time. Utah was already long gone by that point. They were in the p12 and BYU was languishing in the Mountain West. And yet U’s president went out of his way and betrayed confidence to spill the beans to Craig Thompson about BYU’s project.
Utah doesn’t just want to beat BYU; Utah wants to erase BYU’s whole athletic program. And we have evidence. Again, I’m not talking about fans here. I’m talking about the president of the freaking university.
Can you imagine that kind of behavior from any other rival?
Utah can burn forever as far as I’m concerned. If things ever go bad for them and they shut their doors forever, I’d be the first in line to dance on their graves. This isn’t a friendly rivalry anymore.
