feed my family and several others while we would wait for spring to plow up all the grass and plant crops. I don’t see it as I will need it for a year, but rather as a help for the community to band together and get through a non-growing season. It only takes a couple thousand dollars to get enough wheat, rice, beans and oats to have the staples necessary to survive for a year for one family, or many neighbors to get through the non-growing season. I’ve since added freeze dried fruits and vegetables a can at a time.
I feel at peace knowing that we will be okay in a food scarcity scenario. Watch enough seasons of Alone and you can see why any plan to live off the land will most likely result in starvation. Farming and animal domestication was what drastically increased survivability, and that is exactly what we would have to do with a major supply chain disruption.
