My son was called to Norway:
Both my wife and I come from Swedish lines--my great-grandmother's native language was Swedish. (BTW, my wife's brother went to Sweden on his mission)

Well, it turns out that almost ALL the missionaries sent to Norway have genealogical roots there. He once sent us a mission photo of all the missionaries and they looked like they could all be cousins. They probably were. He said the he was regularly taken for a native until he started talking and had an accent.

He was instructed in his call to bring his genealogy, and one of the first things a missionary did was sit down and figure out who in the ward he was related to.

My son once served in a small area right on the arctic circle. Turns out, some of his closest relations were there...

ADDENDUM: He ended up marrying a girl named, "Kirsten." go figure.
